GROW CABINETS · METRO SOLO

A farm on a dishwasher's footprint.

Metro Solo grows microgreens, herbs and leafy greens in a sealed, lit cabinet that fits a prep room, a lab bay or a back office. The Brain runs the lights and the watering and tells you when to harvest, so anyone on the team can do it.

VISUALISATION

IN YOUR KITCHEN

Cut it to order. Not from a bag.

Grown on the line, microgreens are cut the minute they go on the plate, fresh for every service.

  • Takes the floor space of a dishwasher. A 61 cm square footprint, against a wall, plugged in at the socket.
  • Sealed and lockable. The door closes on its own climate, so the kitchen's heat and grease stay outside.
  • A plan on the door. The screen says what is ready today and what to sow next, so the whole team can run it.

INSIDE THE CABINET

Open the door

  1. 01 · LIGHT

LED bars over every shelf, on a schedule set for each crop.

  2. 02 · SHELVES

Three shelves, so three crops at three different stages.

  3. 03 · WATER

Ebb and flow: the pump floods each tray from the tank, then it drains back.

  1. 04 · TANK

Out of the way in the base cupboard, with its own lockable door.

  2. 05 · SENSORS

Temperature, humidity and water level, pre-cabled to the Brain.

  3. 06 · THE BRAIN

Runs it all and keeps going with no internet. How it works

SEED TO PLATE

Ten days, ten minutes of work.

Day 0

Sow

Spread seed on a tray, slide it onto a shelf and tap the crop on the door screen.

Days 1 to 3

Germinate

Lights stay off and the Brain keeps the tray damp. You do nothing.

Days 4 to 9

Grow

Lights on, watering on schedule, a photo every day. Still nothing to do.

Day 7 to 14

Harvest

The screen says the shelf is ready. Cut with scissors, then sow the next tray.

Timings for fast microgreens such as radish and pea shoots. Herbs take longer.
