FOR FARMS DIVERSIFYING

A second crop that ignores the weather.

A container on the yard grows salad, herbs and microgreens every week of the year, as its own income line, alongside the land you already farm.

FARMS DIVERSIFYING

WHO IT’S FOR

Farmers and landowners looking for a second income that does not depend on the weather or the next subsidy scheme.

WHAT MATTERS TO YOU

You want to know who buys the crop, how much work it is, whether planning will wear it, and when it pays back.

HOW IT WOULD WORK FOR YOU

From first call to a routine.

01 · BEFORE YOU BUY

Find your buyer first

On the call we talk about who you would sell to: your farm shop, a veg box, local restaurants or a wholesaler. If you do not have one in mind, we will tell you to start there.

02 · INSTALL

Set down on the yard

The container sits on hardstanding you already have. We fit it out, connect power, and train whoever will run it.

03 · JANUARY

Harvesting in midwinter

A sealed, lit room grows the same crop in January as in June, so you have something to sell when the fields are quiet.

04 · ROUTINE

Fits around the farm

Sowing and cutting take a few hours a week. The Brain watches the racks and messages your phone if anything needs you.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Common questions, answered.

Can I sell it as organic?

Usually not. UK organic standards are built around growing in soil, so hydroponic crops generally cannot be certified. If organic is your brand, sell this as a separate line, not as part of your organic range. Check with your certifier.

Who will buy what it grows?

That is the question to answer first. We sell the farm, not the produce, so the market is yours. Microgreens are the fastest crop and chefs currently pay £63 to £92 a kilo for them through a national wholesaler (Brakes, November 2026).

When does it pay back?

We will share payback figures once our first container has completed a full growing year. Today we can give you the full specification, the list price and the crops best suited to your buyers.

Will I need planning permission?

It depends on your site and your council. We check your situation with you on the call, and give you drawings and dimensions for any application.

How much electricity does it use?

Lights and climate control are the main load. We give you daily and peak figures for your site in writing before you commit. If you have solar, read our page for landowners with solar.

What happens if something fails at a busy time?

The Brain sends an alert to your phone the moment a reading goes out of range, and we stay on hand after install.

GOOD TO KNOW

Where it fits

A year-round line alongside your existing farm, sold separately from any organic range. It works best when you already know who will buy the crop.
